Houston, we have the "Answer" to your problem!

Dear Friend,

I was recently in Houston, Texas and friends of our ministry had arranged for me to be interviewed on TBN for a show to be aired next month. My contact at TBN was Jean Gabriel who is, also, the founder and CEO of a non-profit organization, P.U.S.H. to W.I.N. Outreach, Inc. P.U.S.H. to W.I.N. provides a variety of innovative programs and services and has targeted a low-income community in Sunnyside, Texas. Jean personally does a weekly Bible study there in a classroom that holds 93 people.

After the interview Jean came to me and asked how she could get one of the ISW curriculum for Sunnyside. She is currently working on project within her organization dealing with self-worth, self-esteem, self-awareness and self-motivation. King's Row, the apartment community that P.U.S.H. is working with, has 170 single moms with over 300 children. Due to the low income level, many of the residents have been affected by drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence abuse, and a variety of other negative factors that have contributed to their low levels of self-esteem and self-worth. The majority of the residents within this apartment community, also, fall into a low literacy category. The low literacy level puts them at a disadvantage concerning study material; however with the ISW curriculum on DVD they don't have to read or write, they can see and hear! Jean is very excited about the number of people that will make decisions for Jesus, who is the answer, as well as embrace the word of grace and biblical principles of self-worth.

I need your help!

For some time I've asked the Lord to help us get the ISW curriculum into inner city projects like Sunnyside and those places where "angels fear to tread" like the gangs. WE NOW HAVE A DOOR OPEN TO US TO REACH PRECIOUS AND VALUABLE SOULS IN THE INNER CITY. Jean has asked me to come to Houston and meet with Houston's city officials to introduce the ISW curriculum. I need the following to make the ISW curriculum available:

1. At least one large screen TV, TV stand and DVD player for Sunnyside.

2. Travel expenses to Houston to meet with Jean and the city officials.

Would you consider planting a seed into the lives of Houston's inner city Sunnyside community? Any amount will be welcomed. My estimate for the cost of this first project is $2,500. This is a benevolence project of ISW and any amount received above that needed for what is listed above will go to reach prison inmates. Please make your check payable to ISW, mark it Houston Outreach and mail to The Institute of Self-Worth; PO Box 2068; Nixa, Missouri 65714. We thank you, Jean and P.U.S.H. to W.I.N. thank you, and the hungry souls of King's Row in Sunnyside, Texas thank you.

As you can see from the enclosed letter ISW has an exciting opportunity to be involved with some inner city areas of Houston, TX.  We hope by reaching into the low-income, high crime areas of our cities we can establish the biblical principles of self-worth in the hearts of the hearers and help them avoid a life in prison.

Parchman State Prison

On March 8 I joined Chaplain Shelly Scallions at the Parchman unit in Mississippi for the ISW graduation of five protective custody inmates.  Pastor Steve Reed from Solid Rock Church in Madisonville, Kentucky met me there.

Barry Telford Unit

On May 1 Joe Merchant traveled with me to New Boston, Texas and where volunteer chaplains Robert Mularski and Sam Rushing use the ISW curriculum.  We had 30 inmates graduate from ISW Volume I and 21 graduates from ISW Volume II.  Two men from Labor of Love Ministries, also, received diplomas.

Northwest Believers Church

Pastors Larry and Colette Conner in Katy, Texas had me in to speak at the ISW graduation of 14 members from their church on Sunday morning, May 16.  One graduate took an ISW curriculum to Greece.  That puts ISW in 94 countries  The Conners were very instrumental in getting me scheduled to be interviewed by Mike Barber on the TBN affiliate in Houston.  I had a very busy and fruitful time while I was with Pastors Larry and Colette and NW Believers Church.

Harris County Jail

Monday, May 17 I taught two classes at the Harris County Jail in Houston, Texas.  We had 16 men saved in those two classes and we were approved to place the ISW curriculum in this 12,000 population jail.  I, also, spoke at a women's reentry program in Humble, TX that is already using the curriculum.

Angola State Prison

ISW sponsored a group of 7 which included prison chaplains, a warden, a pastor, and a prison employee to tour the famous Angola State Prison in Angola, Louisiana.  Twenty years ago Angola was considered the worst prison in the US.  Today it is considered the best.  Not bad for a maximum security prison that houses death row inmates.  We will take others to tour Angola at another time.  Contact us if you’re interested.

Placements

May 12, 2005 was our five year anniversary for placing the curriculum.  We have placed 2,910 and are in 94 countries with thousands being born again each month.  You, our partners, have made it financially possible to place all these curriculum in the different locations.  Thank you for making a difference in thousands of people's lives worldwide.
